Russia is known for producing some pretty fantastic hockey players. Sergei Federov, Pavel Bure, Vladislav Tretiak, Ilya Kovalchuk, Evgeni Malkin, and Alex Ovechkin just to name a few. I know some of you are thinking Nail Yakupov but don’t you dare include him in this conversation.
Hockey fans are always excited to see which high-flying player will come out of Russia next. Well it seems the next great Russian prospect has emerged. He’s so good he isn’t even Human!
No, Seriously. He’s not. He’s a bear.
A Russian circus bear laced up the skates, strapped on his helmet, taped up his stick and went out on the ice during intermission at a hockey game in Russia. The fans really seem to be enjoying it and getting into it. I think the bar has just been raised for NHL clubs in terms of intermission entertainment. Maybe Arizona will gear up a coyote and put him out there on the ice one game.
In all seriousness, it was a very creative way to entertain the fans at the game. From the looks of it, it seems like it was a some kind of Russian Minor League Hockey. If that’s true, than intermission entertainment is very important for fan attendance. So kudos to whoever put this together.
The bear wasn’t half bad either. Maybe the New Jersey Devils should sign him. Just kidding. Kind of.
