The Buffalo Sabres lose netminder Michal Neuvirth mid-game
The Buffalo Sabres have had, if possible, a worse season than the last — but not for lack of effort out of Michal Neuvirth.

The 26-year-old netminder has been hoping to earn a permanent starting position with the Atlantic Division franchise in the aftermath of his ousting from Washington and Ryan Miller’s departure to Vancouver (via St. Louis); on a team that has struggled mightily this season, he has looked like the star of the squad.
During the team’s Tuesday night re-match against the San Jose Sharks, though, he left mid-game due to an unspecified injury, possibly inflicted during a disallowed goal by Sharks blue liner Justin Braun.
The Sabres were the last team to hit double digits in points across the NHL this season; the franchise had hoped that up-and-comers Tyler Ennis and Tyler Myers would be able to meet with some success alongside veterans Brian Gionta and Josh Gorges. The team finished the 2013-2014 season in last place by a full fourteen points, and are on pace to give a repeat performance this year as well.
Luckily, the Sabres are still leading the Sharks 3-1; backup Jhonas Enroth allowed a single shot in the second period, while Neuvirth had blocked a perfect ten for ten in the first. Hopefully, things will continue to develop in their favor… a loss of both their netminder and the game would undoubtedly be too much to handle for the franchise that could very well be snowed into their own arena tonight.
God help Buffalo.
