Bill Self suffered his biggest loss as a head coach on Tuesday night, as the Kansas Jayhawks were blown out by the Kentucky Wildcats. Afterwards, he took the loss in stride with a little bit of humor.

On Tuesday night, Bill Self watched his No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks suffer an embarassing defeat at the hands of the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats.

It was a brutal loss for Self and company — and the largest margin of defeat in his career as coach at the university — but he wasn’t too down on himself following the loss.

While Self could have understandably been a grump when meeting with the media, he immediately broke the ice with a joke.

As he took a sip of whater, he jokingly said, “I was hoping that was vodka.”

The game sure didn’t go as planned, but at least Bill Self was able to provide us all with this gem.

The rest of Jayhawks nation was also probably reaching for a drink of their own, following the 32-point blowout loss.

It is obviously early in the season, so there is no reason for Bill Self or anyone on his team to panic just yet. As for the top-ranked Wildcats, the win could signal a very promising finish.

In the previous times the school defeated Kansas as the No. 1 team in the nation, they went on to win the national championship.
