You either like the TLC show “19 Kids And Counting” or would rather be stuck in downtown Buffalo wearing nothing but shorts and a “I Love Scott Norwood” T-shirt. There is no in between.
You’re probably going to like them less, especially if you believe the LGBT community deserves to be treated with the same rights as the rest of us. Seems like the happy Duggar family isn’t fond of non-heterosexual lifestyles, leading to a petition on Change.org asking TLC to pull the plug on one of its most popular shows.
“The Duggars have been using their fame to promote discrimination, hate, and fear-mongering against gays and transgendered people,” said Jim Wissick, who launched the petition, which has thus far gained 12,000 signatures.
For those unfamiliar with the Duggars: Mom (Michelle) and Pop (Jim Bob) are Baptist ministers whose conservative stance would scare the hell of Sean Hannity. Mom Duggar was recently involved in a robocall in Arkansas against an anti-discrimination housing law that effected the LGBT community. Needless to say, the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree, as eldest son Josh Duggar is the executive director of FRC Action, the shock troops of the heavily anti-gay Family Research Council.
Petitions probably won’t be enough to send the Duggars away, as TLC is pretty invested in the family. The show is in the midst of its ninth season and will likely see a few more years of wholesome family fun.
