Tim Duncan is the king of commercials

As the NBA season gets out of the early stages and begins to enter its’ normal stride, we see more things that you see during an NBA season. Awesome dunks, cool crossovers, and hilarious commercials. That’s right, commercials. The NBA is filled with surprisingly good actors, and great personalities. These commercials are a great way for them to show off those personalities.

To start off the NBA commercial season, the Spurs did their annual HEB commercials. Make sure to go and vote for your favorite.

Starting us off, the Spurs are having a grill out! No, not a BBQ, a grill out. I’ll be damned if anybody calls cooking burgers a BBQ. Tony Parker appears to be the showcase guy, talking up all the different burgers HEB has for their hungry consumers. I won’t spoil what makes this commercial so great, but lets say it involves Australian accents, and a confused Kawhi Leonard.

Next up is “Wise”. Tony Parker is once again the pitch man, talking up all of HEB’s Organic Foods. This one is in my opinion the weakest of the three, but it’s funny none the less. Manu Ginobli has a gigantic beard and Kawhi Leonard is once again confused.

The last HEB commercial this year is “Toga” and it’s the best of the three. The pitch man changes this time, with Patty Mills promoting HEB’s greek yogurt selection. There are two things great about this. First, Kawhi Leonard once again, has the best line. But Tim Duncan showcasing his “I’m too old for this” attitude, really makes it.

Speaking of Tim Duncan, HEB isn’t the only commercial he starred in this year. Teaming up with the Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose, Duncan describes his “excitement” over the week of greatness returning. It’s fantastic and shows that Duncan is willing to poke fun at himself.

Of course, nobody can laugh at himself the way James Harden does. He’s already made fun of his beard before while teaming up with foot locker. This year he has some fun with his notoriously bad defense. “Nobody ever calls me defensive”

We started off this season’s commercials, strong. Every commercial was funny, and while there are favorites, none of them are bad. The obvious superstars were Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. Leonard’s minimal lines always managed to get a laugh, no matter what, especially in Toga. While his teammate may have been stealing the spotlight, Duncan had possibly the best commercial in this entire group with his footlocker commercial. I look forward to the undoubtedly great commercials we’ll continue to get as the season goes on.
