Toronto Maple Leafs Player Yawns While Down 8-0
By Cory Buck
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik was caught yawning on the bench during the team’s 9-2 loss at home to the Nashville Predators.
Some things happen as a product of just being bad. For instance, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost 9-2 at home to the Nashville Predators because they are a bad team and that is what bad teams do.

But sometimes things happen as a result of just some bad luck and poor timing.
Take Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik for example. He was caught yawning in a picture while the Leafs trailed 8-0. Sure, we can say the team sleepwalked through their home ice beatdown, but while it’s not fair to label Winnik as some kind of quitter, we’re going to go ahead and poke fun at the picture anyways.
A screenshot from Tuesday’s massacre was posted to Reddit, as seen below to much aplomb from the online community.
Oh, Daniel Winnik, and here we had such high hopes for your positive effect on this team’s possession numbers.
The only thing the Leafs are possessing after Tuesday’s loss is an irate fan base that’s at the end of its line. The team lost to NHL-worst Buffalo over the weekend, which should have fired them up for their next game. Instead they put forth a snoozer of an effort against the admittedly-pretty-good Predators.
In response, it appears Daniel Winnik had to say what every Maple Leafs fan was thinking as the team trailed 8-0 in the third period.
Yawn.
