Buffalo was destroyed with a massive snow storm that dumped over 70 inches in the surrounding area which has forced the NFL to take action and move this Sunday’s game away from the area.

When Buffalo was obliterated by a massive blizzard this week, the question of whether an NFL game could be played in the area was raised. There have been blizzards before, but this one is unprecedented and is going down as one of the most devastating winter storms in history.

As a result, the NFL has been forced to take action regarding the Week 12 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets and will be moving the game away from the area. The question of if the game has been answered but it has been replaced with the question of where will it now be played?

The NFL will be working with the Red Cross while they try to determine a safe venue to play the game and when it will be played.

Games have had to be moved in the past due to Mother Nature wrecking havoc on a community. The Minnesota Vikings have twice had to play games on a Tuesday in the past five years as a blizzard in Philadelphia forced their game with the Eagles to a Tuesday while a blizzard the caved in the Metrodome roof forced a game against the Giants to be moved to Detroit.

New Orleans was uprooted when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005 while the Chargers have had to move games due to California wildfires in the past. This blizzard is just the latest example of how even a league as powerful as the NFL is no match for Mother Nature’s wrath.
