Papa  Johns is altering its promotion of allowing Philadelphia 76ers fans to get 50 percent off their pizza when the Sixers win because the team is so bad.

It’s very common to see Papa John’s run promotions that give residents 50 percent off their pizza after a local team wins a game.

It’s a smart promotion, as pro teams, especially NBA teams considering the league has an 82-game regular season, generally rack up enough wins where fans can semi-regularly save some money on their pizza and Papa John’s can get some extra business.

However, the Philadelphia 76ers are the exception.

The team is so bad that Papa John’s 50 percent off promotion has yielded no savings or extra business. Through 11 games, the Sixers are winless.

Considering there’s no reason to believe Philly will turn things around and they are likely to finish as one of the worst teams in league history, Papa John’s made the fantastic move to alter their Sixers promo.

According to CrossingBroad.com’s Kyle Scott, Papa John’s is now offering fans 50 percent off when the 76ers score 90 points in a game. Yes, 90 points.

There are only two teams that don’t average at least 90 points per game: the 76ers and the Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook-less Oklahoma City Thunder.

This is simply so embarrassing for 76ers. 90 points — frankly, more than that — should be expected from an NBA team on a night-to-night basis. For the 76ers, it’s now being viewed as a real accomplishment.

The fact that this makes business sense for Papa John’s might be the biggest indictment on the Sixers’ season yet.
