Randy Moss has retired from the NFL, but his namesake is going to keep his legacy alive as his son Thaddeus is well on his way to becoming a college football star in the making.
When Randy Moss electrified scouts while he was at Marshall, eventually lighting up the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings in the late 90s and early 2000s, no one knew how much gas his legacy had. He exploded onto the NFL scene in 1998 as part of one of the most high scoring offenses in history but 16 years later his namesake is still something that NFL scouts are paying attention to.

No, Moss will not be coming out of retirement to play in the NFL once again but his flesh and blood may very well replace him one day. Thaddeus Moss is the son of Randy Moss and is getting all sorts of early attention from colleges as one of the nation’s standout high school players.
According to 247Sports, Moss is getting considerable recruiting attention with early scholarship offers coming in from Boston College, N.C. State and Duke.
"“He inherited some of his father’s ball skills,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons said. “For a bigger, thicker kid, he definitely can track the ball well and make plays on it in the air. He plays both sides of the ball and could also project as a defensive lineman. As he develops and gets stronger, his game could go a lot of different directions. There is definitely some natural talent there and a kid that will be one to watch the next couple years.”"
They aren’t powerhouse schools, which is something that may deter expectations for some watching the younger Moss’s career trajectory. But he’s still getting major offers from major D-I schools which is nothing to sneeze at.
It’s unclear if Thaddeus Moss is capable of carrying the torch for his father, but he’s at least going to get a pretty good chance at doing so.
