Ron Hextall screams at Philadelphia team to get their act together

The Philadelphia Flyers lost 2-0 to the New York Rangers on Wednesday night, and GM Ron Hextall was not happy about it.

To be completely fair, Hextall had a right to be upset. The Flyers have lost their last nine consecutive games at Madison Square Garden, but this loss — which brought their losing streak to three, and left them floating around 25th in the league — was very much a player-accountable loss.

The GM doesn’t normally make a post-game locker room appearance, but the media heard his rant loud and clear following the shutout:

"“Are you [bleeping] kidding me?” Hextall could be heard screaming, per Philly.com. “That’s [bleeping] embarrassing! Jesus [bleeping] Christ!”"

This isn’t the first team this season to have a message sent to them before even leaving the arena. Following a 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Arizona Coyotes admitted that head coach Dave Tippett didn’t even enter the locker room; if they weren’t going to show up on the ice, he wasn’t going to show up in the locker room.

The Flyers, though, admitted that they deserved this chewing out. They made defensive error after defensive error all night long; at one point, Bradyen Coburn nearly took out the team’s own goaltender, Steve Mason.

They will take on the Minnesota Wild next, which could be either a blessing or a curse. The Wild have been defensively stripped in recent games, with four separate blue liners getting scratched for mumps-like symptoms, but alternate captain Zach Parise is back from a concussion — in order to get a win (and maybe pull themselves out of the cellar this season), the Flyers will need to start doing things right.
