We sort out the most popular number in the NFL based on jersey sales.

More from Arizona Cardinals

The folks over at the Jersey Report are constantly collecting data from the jersey sales at DICK’s Sporting Goods stores around the nation and online. Using that data, they find some unusual trends, like which player is the most popular in each state according to women, or which team is the most popular in each state.

They’re back at it again with a more unique and intriguing statistic, the most popular jersey number according to jersey sales. To explain, No. 12 is a popular number because of superstar players like New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

But is it more popular than No. 18, which is worn by superstars like Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green? Or No. 9 for instance, which is worn by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo?

That’s what we’re here to tell you, starting with the tenth most popular jersey in the NFL.

Next: No. 10 #7
