For the last week of the regular season, College GameDay will be headed to one of the most anticipated rematches of the season with Alabama and Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

More from College Football

While Week 13 of the college football season this week isn’t bringing a ton of action, Week 14, the final week of the regular season, does have a few intriguing match ups. You would think that this would make the College GameDay choice difficult, but the ESPN crew’s mind is already made up.

The College GameDay crew will indeed be heading to Tuscaloosa to see the Auburn Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the famed Iron Bowl.

Now in a way, this is a bit surprising. For weeks there were folks that believed Ole Miss vs Mississippi State was a shoo-in to get the College GameDay treatment for the Egg Bowl. However, with Alabama jumping up to the No. 1 spot in this past week’s College Football Playoff rankings, the possibility of Auburn ruining their title hopes for the second straight year is too good to pass up, by far.

Last season these two teams provided maybe the game of the year, although there was a lot more on the line. That game was for the SEC West title and it ended up vaulting Auburn to the BCS National Championship Game. Auburn’s national title hopes are all but gone, but again, the potential for them taking away Alabama’s by handing them their second loss is a lot to pass up.

So for next week, the crew of ESPN College GameDay will be heading to Tuscaloosa.
