Former MLB Ace Randy Johnson Stands Guard At Korean DMZ
By Ed Carroll
Former MLB ace Randy Johnson, now a photographer in retirement, visited the Korean DMZ to stand guard, take pictures and pump up the troops.
Randy Johnson spent 22 years in Major League Baseball terrorizing hitters with a 100 MPH fastball and his imposing physical frame (the left-hander is 6-foot-10 and all arms and legs), but he spends his retirement as a photographer and USO supporter. Johnson took a trip to Korea, and briefly helped stand guard at the Korean DMZ.

Johnson did a three-day USO tour in Korea, visiting troops, signing autographs and taking pictures, before moving on to visit Tokyo.
Judging from the picture, Johnson looks to be in about the same shape he was during his playing days, when he used to rack up some absurd numbers, such as in 1999, when he had 364 strikeouts in a Cy Young-winning year. Johnson is 51 now, and it’s cool to see him using his time so productively now that he’s out of baseball.
If nothing else, I guess we can thank Johnson for keeping the Korean DMZ safe for yet another day, even if he didn’t do anything but stand there.
