In the final seconds of overtime between the Bruins and the Columbus Blue Jackets, Milan Lucic went another round with old-time nemesis Dalton Prout. The two went at it last year, and Lucic came out on top; this year, things didn’t exactly swing in his favor.
Prout caught Lucic in the chin with a single, solidly placed hit that knocked Looch flat before he could get a single hit in. The refs broke it up before anything else happened, giving this round to Prout (although both players were assessed penalties for the altercation, with Lucic getting a ten minute game misconduct for his little tantrum following the hit).
Following the game, Prout defended the way Lucic sprang to action after the hit — and suggested that there was nothing unfair about the way the fight came about.
"“As soon as he grabbed me by the collar and looked away … it’s on,” Prout said, according to Portzline. “We’re both guys who have been in altercations.”"
Prout went on to say that they were both engrossed in the fight, and he had ‘no idea’ what Lucic was screaming.
Uh… it’s Milan Lucic. I think we all have a few ideas of what was said.
