This post will cover college football picks against the spread for the games that kick off between noon and 3pm eastern. Keep in mind that I do not pick games against 1-AA opponents. It is way too hard to get an accurate spread since most casinos don’t even put out lines on those games. There are several of those games this week.
Kansas at (21)Oklahoma(-25.5): This line is ridiculous! Sterling Shepard is questionable, and Trevor Knight is doubtful. Even with both of them healthy, I don’t think Oklahoma would cover with their offensive struggles and their defensive apathy. Give me Kansas for my lock of the day! There is no way Oklahoma covers this.
South Alabama at South Carolina(-24.5): This line looks pretty high, but the Jaguars have struggled lately. I really don’t think they can stay close. Give me the Gamecocks.
(25)Minnesota at (23)Nebraska(-10.5): I am surprised that the line is this high. Look for both teams to run the ball because both quarterbacks have been terrible passing the ball lately. I think it stays a one score game. Give me Minnesota.
Northwestern at Purdue(EVEN): This is a bit unfounded. I know that Purdue is improving, but not enough to where this should be an even line. Give me Northwestern.
Rutgers at (11)Michigan State(-22.5): The Spartan defense has struggled quite a bit this year, but I don’t think the Rutgers offense is good enough to exploit Michigan State. Give me Sparty.
Marshall(-19.5) at UAB: The Blazers have looked terrible lately. Marshall is showing no signs of slowing down, and there is no one on their schedule that is a threat to slowing them down. Give me the Herd.
UTSA at Western Kentucky(-9.5): This line has climbed steadily since opening at -6. For under two touchdowns, the Hilltoppers are a safe bet. Give me WKU.
SMU at Central Florida(-27.5): This is a huge line, but for a team that is as lost on offense as SMU is, it’s not surprising. So don’t be surprised when UCF covers it.
Penn State(-6.5) at Illinois: This line looks low. The Illini have struggled all season against lesser teams that Penn State. I don’t expect Penn State to blow anyone out, but I do expect them to beat Illnois by at least ten.
Indiana at (6)Ohio State(-34.5): This line is too big. I know that Indiana has struggled without Nate Sudfeld, and that their defense give up a ton of big plays, but I just don’t see the Buckeyes completely bottling up Tevin Coleman. Indiana will get in the end zone a couple of times, so give me the Hoosiers.
Tulsa at Houston(-20.5): With the way Tulsa has looked all year, this looks low. Give me Houston.
Viriginia Tech(-14.5) at Wake Forest: I don’t care how bad the Hokies have looked. I guarantee you that Wake Forest has looked worse. Give me VT.
Louisiana Tech(-11.5) at Old Dominion: The Monarch offense is ready for divison 1. The defense? That’s a different story. Give me La Tech.
Western Michigan at Central Michigan(EVEN): Wow, two even lines already! Western Michigan has better offensive weapons, but the Chippewas have been pretty good at home. Give me Central.
Washington State at (13)Arizona State(-16.5): I have questions about the Cougars without Connor Halliday under center. I have to go with Arizona State just in case.
New Mexico at Colorado State(-21.5): I don’t like the half, but New Mexico has been so bad that it shouldn’t matter. The Rams still have an outside shot at a New Years Six bowl, so style points will count. Give me CSU.
Appalachian State at Louisiana-Lafayette(-9.5): Well, the Mountaineers have made me look like fools lately. I am going with Appalachian State, and yes, that is the only reason why. No one said that this was an exact science….
Eastern Michigan at Ball State(-16.5): Both these teams have been an insult to FBS all season long. I highly doubt that this game is decided by double digits. Give me Eastern Michigan.
Stay tuned throughout the morning for the rest of my picks!
