Minnesota Gophers Won A Crazy Trophy For Beating Nebraska (Photo)

The Minnesota Gophers got a signature win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday afternoon, and they went home to Dinkytown with a new trophy.
When Gophers head coach Jerry Kill came to town a handful of years ago, the hope was that the team would find a way to get out of the funk they had been in and will the program back to prominence. That has happened in glorious ways over Kill’s tenure and another big day came this Saturday afternoon.

Kill and the Gophers marched into Nebraska and came away with a big win over the No. 23 ranked Cornhuskers in what has shaped up to be a pretty good rivalry. Unlike the rivalry with the Badgers, Wolverines and Buckeyes, the Gophers and Cornhuskers really don’t have a tradition of playing one another in that same way.
As a result, the Gophers and Cornhuskers just made up a trophy that Minnesota then got to keep thanks
This was more than just about a trophy though, as Jerry Kill didn’t need something physical to take back with him after the win. He got all he needed in the win as he now has a huge signature win under his belt at the university.
Minnesota is another step closer to the Big Ten title game, which would be better than any trophy that Kill has collected in his tenure with the program.
