Bears vs. Buccaneers Final Score: Chicago Comes From Behind To Win 21-13
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bears were hoping that they would spoil Lovie Smith’s return to Soldier Field and that’s exactly what happened on Sunday.
When Lovie Smith and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw the Chicago Bears on their schedule this week, the though back when the schedules were released was that the game would carry more weight than it did. In the end, the game was nothing more than two sad NFC teams playing a sad and sloppy game in the rain.

Lovie Smith’s return to Soldier Field went a lot like his games with the Bears did when he was head coach, as the Buccaneers lost a game in which things were mismanaged and the wrong things happened at the wrong time. Case in point being the fact that the Buccaneers rushed to the line all game long on offense except for a fourth-and-one play with just over two minutes to go and the ball on the Bears side of the field.
Turnovers killed the Bucs in the second half, as they took a 10-0 lead at halftime and turned it into a 21-10 leaf for the Bears after three turnovers. The Bears got lucky last week when the Vikings decided to put a short cornerback on Brandon Marshall and the turnovers helped them win a game they should have lost this week.
That confusion that the Buccaneers experienced is something the Bears faithful watching the game do not miss, but a win over the Buccaneers doesn’t give the Bears much leverage in the NFC Playoff hunt. The win does improve their record to 4-6 but they’re still behind the 8-3 Packers in first place and the 7-4 Lions in second place.
It’s a game the Bears needed to win, but no one should be that surprised that they did as the work they have to do in order to make the postseason is far from over.
