The New England Patriots kept their amazing string of success rolling on Sunday afternoon by easily doing away with the Detroit Lions.

Throughout the course of the past few weeks, the New England Patriots have been doing everything to prove that they’re probably the best team in the NFL, and they were right back at it again on Sunday. Inside Gillette Stadium at home on Sunday, Tom Brady and the Patriots throttled the Lions of the NFC, 34-9.

Picked up just five days ago following his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers, running back LeGarrette Blount made his return to the Patriots a memorable one against the Lions, rushing for 78 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns, including this three-yarder in the first half.

Tom Brady had another solid outing in this one, throwing for 349 yards with two touchdowns and just one interception. Brandon Lafell was the leading receiver as far as yardage goes, finishing up with 98 yards on nine catches, while Julian Edelman hauled in 11 passes for 89 yards on the afternoon in the win.

The Patriots defense was phenomenal once again in this one, holding the high-powered Lions offense to under 400 yards, including limiting Matthew Stafford to no touchdown passes with one interception. Calvin Johnson finished with just 58 yards on four catches.

New England, 9-2 on the season,  has now won eight consecutive games, and face a huge showdown next weekend against the surging Green Bay Packers, which could very well be a preview of this year’s Super Bowl.

Detroit drops to 7-4 on the season and will take on the Bears this Thursday for their annual Thanksgiving contest.
