As we know, there was some controversy with this one on Friday, as Algieri struggled to make weight, but he was able to get it on the second try and we were all set for action.

When it was all said and done on Saturday night, it was

Round 1: At the center of the ring, Algieri throws the first few jabs as they feel each other out. Pacquiao lands a right hook that sends Algieri into the ropes, but he quickly rebounds. Pac is keeping up with the speed of Algieri and cutting off the ring on him and landing rights. Pacquiao lands a nice straight right hand to the body before the opening round comes to a close. First round all Pac. Algieri was moving, but Pacquiao stayed step for step.

Round 2: Algieri lands a nice left hook right after the round opens. Algieri tries to work the jab but Pacquiao comes right with a flurry. Pac gets Algieri on the canvas, which was a slip, but the ref counted it as a knockdown. Pac goes right back to work and lands a right hand to the head. Algieri’s  left eye is swollen. The round comes to a close with minimal action, other than the knockdown that was really a slip.

Round 3: Pacquiao again gets Algieri backed up to the ropes with a right. Algieri is able to land a straight left, now that he’s slowed down the pace a little bit. Pac comes right back with a job and then a body shot. Few seconds later, Pac gets a right hand to the head again. The round comes to a close a short time later.

Round 4: Algieri comes out throwing a few more jabs, but then goes on the retreat. Pac follows and hits a flurry again. Algieri comes in on the offensive, but Pac lands a nasty uppercut, followed by some body shots. With about a minute left, Algieri lands a nice left to Pacquiao’s head. Under 20 seconds left, Pacquiao lands another hard left, but that’s followed up by a nice right from Algieri before this round comes to a close.

Round 5: Algieri hits a nice right cross to start the round off. First 30 seconds, at least, to Algieri. Algieri starts landing a little more, but not enough to do any damage. Pacquiao is connecting with less shots than he was earlier in the fight. Round 5 comes to a close, with Algieri more than likely taking his first of the fight.

Round 6: Algieri comes out and lands a right. The two trade jabs in the middle of the ring and Pac lands a shot to the left side of the body of Algieri. Manny comes with another flurry, but it doesn’t look like any connected. Pac hits a hard left that send Algieri into the corner and down goes Algieri, for the second time tonight. Algieri gets back up and Pac puts him right back down to the mat for the third time. Round 6 comes to a close with Algieri hitting the canvas twice.

Round 7: Not much action to start. Eventually Manny gets him into the ropes and lands a left to the body. Algieri moving a lot more this round than he was in the others, but Manny keeps chasing. The round comes to a close with Algieri landing a straight right to the body.

Round 8: Pac starts off the round with a stiff left to the jaw and Algieri retreats. After more chasing by Pac, he hits another hard left to the body of Algieri. Algieri comes back with a quick left hook. The round ends with Algieri in retreat.

Round 9: The two come out and trade jabs in the center of the ring. Pac lands a stiff right cross to the face of Algieri about a minute in. Pacquiao blasts Algieri with a left that sends him on his back. Pac starts with flurries that last about the last 30 seconds of the round, but Algieri survives.

Round 10: Pac hits lefts right off the bat. He’s starting to go more on the offensive. Blood in the water. Manny lands a stiff right to the head, followed right up by a left. About 30 seconds later, Manny lands a left jab to the chin, pretty stiff. After another left, down goes Algieri once again right before the round ends. That is the 7th knockdown of the fight, officially.

Round 11: Pac is working the small jabs now while Algieri keeps moving around the ring in retreat, trying not to get knocked out. With the round coming to a close, Manny lands two hard rights to the face.

Round 12: The two come out and touch gloves for the final round. Pac’s left eye is swollen just a little bit from earlier right hands. Algieri is able to hit a right hand as Pac drops his hands looking for the knockout. Manny quickly gets that guard back up. Manny wasn’t able to get the knockout, but this fight was all him from start to finish.

Winner: Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision (119-103, 119-103, 120-102)
