The Dallas Cowboys trailed the New York Giants on the road for most of the game on Sunday Night Football. They briefly gained a lead only to fall behind again, setting the table for a do-or-die game-winning touchdown drive.
The Cowboys and in particular their offensive line, delivered. The line kept quarterback Tony Romo upright and he was able to pick apart the Giants defense, capping the drive with a touchdown strike to wide receiver wide receiver with about a minute left in the game.
Romo, despite being very successful in the fourth quarter, has a reputation for throwing games away at the end. Before this drive, Romo said he had a calming feeling before hand.
“It’s a calming feeling,” the Cowboys quarterback said of how he felt at the start of the final drive, per ESPN.com. “You’re almost doing what you decided before the game, if that makes sense. Once you get into the series, then obviously you’re going to call the play and going to come up with the stuff that you feel best doing.
“But more than that, it’s just three minutes, you have two timeouts. That’s a different situation than one minute and no timeouts. You have to prepare for those situations.”
It certainly worked out for the Cowboys this week and they continue to roll through the season.
