Denver Broncos Working Out Jay Feeley

The Denver Broncos might have had it with kicker Brandon McManus after he missed a 33-yard field goal in the team’s win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and are now working out veteran Jay Feeley.

Current Broncos kicker, Brandon McManus, has missed three out of five field goals over 40 yards so far this season and this unreliability has made the Broncos start passing up the opportunity for long field goals in games lately. McManus has missed four kicks since October when the Broncos released 2013 Pro Bowl kicker Matt Prater.

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Broncos are working out free agent kicker Jay Feeley. Jay Feeley last played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. He played 16 games for the Cardinals last year and made 36 field goal attempts, of which he made 30 of those for an 83.3 percent made rate. He had one blocked field goal and his longest was 52 yards. The Cardinals released him in the offseason to employ rookie kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

Feeley has been in the league since 2001 and would provide veteran experience at the position. His percentage of field goals made has ranged from 70 percent to 91 percent in his career.

Aside from Feeley, it looks like the Broncos are bringing in another kicker to work out as well.

Connor Barth last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 and has been in the league since 2008. His percentage in the last year he played was 84.8 and his long was 57 yards.

The Broncos clearly intend to replace McManus if they can, and it looks like they’re looking for a veteran to help them in their stretch run.
