The NHL season is at the quarter pole of the regular season and this week’s NHL Power Rankings continue to see the battle rage on as the best from the Western Conference and the best from the Eastern Conference are jockeying for supremacy in the Week 8 rankings

We are at the quarter pole of the 2014-2015 NHL season as all but five teams have played at least 20 games and two teams playing as much as 23 games this year and we’re beginning to see some division races heat up and the playoff picture gaining some early clarity.

The Western Conference is the deepest conference offering the most teams I believe are capable of ultimately winning the Stanley Cup at the end of the year, but the Eastern Conference has been top-heavy with two teams already with at least 30 points, including the Montreal Canadiens who have a league-high 33 points through 23 games.

But is that enough to take the top spot from the Pittsburgh Penguins who have been in the top spot for the last two weeks or the St. Louis Blues who have won seven of their last 10 games, many of them in impressive fashion?

Without further ado, here are the NHL power rankings after seven weeks. Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below so your voice can be heard on who you believe are the best teams in the NHL.

The NHL Power Rankings are a weekly staple for the FanSided NHL section and will be published every Monday morning so be sure to bookmark the page so you can stay on top of all the daily coverage as well as weekly features like power rankings and Wednesday’s player rankings.
