As soon as the verdict came down that there would be no indictment against officer Darren in the shooting death of Michael Brown, some of the people of Ferguson decided to take their anger and aggression to the streets and begin rioting and looting the town.
When morning broke, there were images of buildings and vehicles in flames all around the city and many businesses, who had absolutely nothing to do with the judgment that came down, were completely trashed because of the actions of those who felt the need to act out their aggression on innocent people.
Unfortunately, this makes for a rather unsafe environment for everyone in the area; both the people who remain innocent standing in disbelief of the destruction and those perpetrating the criminal activity all around the city.
As hockey fans in the St. Louis area are probably well aware, the St. Louis Blues are set to take on the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night at the Scottrade Center; however, depending on how things play out today, this may or may not still be happening.
According to TSN, the National Hockey League is closely monitoring the situation in Ferguson, which is only about 20 kilometers, or a little over 12 miles, away from St. Louis.
If the situation is deemed unsafe for not only the players and personnel, but the fans in attendance as well, the game may have to be postponed to a later date.
While we’re sure that everyone could use something to take their minds off of the tragic situation playing out in Ferguson right now, the safety of all those involved have to remain the priority and the National Hockey League will make the best (and safest) decision for everyone involved.
