San Francisco Giants Trying To Acquire Max Scherzer, Justin Upton and Nelson Cruz
By Josh Hill
The San Francisco Giants lost a massive pillar on their roster with Pablo Sandoval leaving — a hole their trying to fill with big name, high priced free agents.
When Pablo Sandoval signed with the Boston Red Sox this week, he left a gaping hole in the hearts of San Francisco Giants fans who weren’t ready to say goodbye to their beloved Panda.

But while Sandoval is gone, the Giants are trying to fill the void left in his wake by signing or acquiring some big name, high priced players. According to a report from Jon Heyman from CBS Sports, the Giants are interested in signing Nelson Cruz, Max Scherzer and Torii Hunter while acquiring the services of Justin Upton.
"The Giants, champions three of the last five years, are thinking small and very big, as word is they’ve cast a wide net, initiating talks regarding several star players, including not only players who could fill obvious needs such as Justin Upton, Nelson Cruz, Nick Markakis, Torii Hunter, Chase Headley and Tomas, and presumably also Jay Bruce and others, but also the two biggest starting pitchers — Jon Lester and Scherzer."
This is a classic case of a lover scorned trying to spend away the pain of losing a massive piece of their team. San Francisco does not win by buying championships, which makes this approach seem so strange. Still, the NL is filled with big spenders as the Chicago Cubs are a team to watch while the Los Angeles Dodgers always find a way to be big spenders.
