Tyson Chandler Says He Felt Like Scapegoat With New York Knicks
By Sam Richmond
Tyson Chandler says he received too much blame for the New York Knicks’ failures while he was on the team.
Tyson Chandler is tired of being blamed for the New York Knicks’ struggles last season (37-45, missed playoffs).

The now-Dallas Mavericks center told ESPN Dallas that he felt like a scapegoat “at times” with the Knicks and that he received too much criticism for the team’s woes.
"“At times, at times, at times,” Chandler told ESPNDallas.com. “But I feel like New York made me a lot stronger, a lot stronger of a person going through trials and tribulations there. But that’s life.”"
It’s hard to blame Chandler for feeling this way.
In September, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson said his desire to “change some of the chemistry” played a role in the team’s decision to trade Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Mavericks, which was pretty clearly a shot at the two players.
Fortunately for Chandler, it doesn’t appear as if he’s having similar chemistry issues with Dallas.
"“Yeah, he’s such a horrible influence, I can see why they got rid of him,” Mavs owner Mark Cuban said sarcastically.“He’s been a great help, great impact on the court, off the court. Everything we thought he was, he was.”"
Chandler is averaging 10.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season, as Dallas has raced out to a 10-5 start. New York, on the other hand, is 4-11. Perhaps Chandler wasn’t the problem, after all.
