Chad Johnson Wants To Return To CFL Next Season
By Josh Hill
The NFL career of Chad Johnson has been over for a very long time, but that doesn’t mean he’s done with football as a return to the CFL is something he’d very much consider.
It’s been a few years since we were blessed with the Chad Johnson era in the NFL where showboating was almost more important than scoring the touchdown that gave it purpose. But things have matured since then and not only are Johnson’s antics frowned upon now — and against the rules — but his talents aren’t wanted either.

That’s not to say they weren’t once appreciated as Johnson was one of the best receivers in the NFL at one point in time. But he’s fallen far since then as his days with the Bengals seem like eons ago.
According to CFL.ca, the artist formerly known as Ochocinco wants to makes a return to football but in the CFL rather than the NFL.
"“I had fun, I enjoyed the comradery. The smell of the locker room, the crowd – you can’t replace that. Once it’s gone you don’t get it back … I didn’t come here to be the Chad of old, I came here to contribute when I could. I’m going to have a little surgery, a little maintenance and I’ll be back.”"
THere’s likely no doubting that if the NFL came knocking, Johnson would fall head over heels to return there rather than the CFL. But seeing as no one wants him in the NFL, there’s not a fat chance he’s going to be drawing much attention there anytime soon.
He didn’t have a bad season in the CFL as Canadian football is hardly a bad way to make a living. All the sport needs is a partnership with NBC Sports or ESPN to fully legitimize it in the eyes of Americans, and Johnson is someone who can help make that happen. Still, at the end of the day this is all about him making a living and the CFL is one of the best ways a football player the NFL doesn’t want can make a lot of money.
