The rioting in Ferguson this week may have a ripple effect that forces the St. Louis Rams to move their home game against the Oakland Raiders to another venue.

Sometimes real life events overflow into the world we go to in order to get away from real problems. That’s the case in Missouri this weekend as the fallout from the Darren Wilson non-inditcment could boil over to effect the St Louis Rams game on Sunday afternoon.

It’s not a done deal and things may get cleaned up before the weekend rolls around but there’s a ‘remote’ chance that the Rams-Raiders game could be moved. After all, Ferguson is basically on fire and rests less than 15 miles away from St. Louis. According to the Indianapolis Star, there is a remote chance that the events in Ferguson could force this Sunday’s Rams game to be moved to Indianapolis.

"The source said the league considers it a “remote possibility.”Indianapolis was chosen for its proximity. The Colts would provide infrastructure including ticket distribution, concession workers and even the sideline chain crew, but the game would be considered a league event and not a profitable opportunity for the Colts. Several concession workers have told The Star that they are on call for Monday night. Public safety officials in Indianapolis say they are prepared if the game were moved."

Rioting has settled since the verdict to not indict officer Darren Wilson in the death of 18-year old Michael Brown but the area is still volatile. It’s simply too soon after the verdict for football to calm the region — not to mention how self indulgent the idea of such a thing is. Still, the game could remain in St. Louis as the NFL is expected to assess the situation and determine how safe the area is.
