San Francisco 49ers‘ CEO Jed York let his frustrations be heard after his team’s 19-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving night.
Thank you #49ersfaithful for coming out strong tonight. This performance wasn't acceptable. I apologize for that

San Francisco 49ers’ CEO Jed York was on hand last night to see his team’s playoff hopes dwindle. The loss to the Seattle Seahawks dropped the 49ers to a 7-5 record and third place in the NFC West. While still only one win behind Seattle and two behind the NFC-leading Cardinals, San Francisco is just 1-3 within the division. Needless to say, they will need a lot of help to make the playoffs now.
It’s usually not too big of a deal when an owner/CEO/GM comes out and says something like this. These individuals are highly invested into the team and are frustrated when the team does not meet expectations. However, there is a bit more too it in this particular scenario with the 49ers.
It is no secret that CEO Jed York and head coach Jim Harbaugh aren’t, how you say, the best of friends. There have been a lot of rumors that Jim Harbaugh is on the outs with 49ers ownership. However, conflict between coach and owner is not always a bad thing. It shows both individuals are passionate about the team even thought their ideals may differ.
In this scenario, however, it doesn’t look good.
This tweet from York may be a subtle jab at Harbaugh. Calling him out for a lackluster effort from his team. It could even be a threat directed at Harbaugh about his job security. Or, it could just be Jed York venting off some steam after a frustrating loss to a divsional rival at home.
We will just have to wait and see if Jim Harbaugh is still this team’s head coach come next August if San Francisco fails to qualify for the playoffs this season.
