Thanks to the Nebraska Cornhuskers‘ special teams unit, college football has now given us the ‘butt punt’ to go along with the infamous ‘butt fumble.’
Can we still say what we are thankful for? Is that allowed if the thing for which we are thankful came into existence on the day after Thanksgiving?
I’m going to say yes.
I am thankful for the butt punt.
Sam Foltz is the punter for Nebraska. He is probably a decent punter, and he operated in relative anonymity up until today. Now, his work on the football field will live on forever thanks to the inter-webs.

Yesterday marked the two-year anniversary of the butt fumble. To celebrate, Mark Sanchez played a great game of football against the Dallas Cowboys, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to victory. That’s all fine and good, but the butt fumble will live on forever.
Even if Foltz gets his own shot at redemption sometime down the road, this is the moment that he can be sure will last. We will see it, we will talk about it, and each time we will call it by its name: the butt punt.
The butt punt is real. It is very real.
An enthusiastic hat-tip to gifdsports.
