Iowa’s Jake Rudock Wears The Darth Vader Helmet (Photo)

Made famous by the Dark Lord of the Sith in a galaxy far, far away, Iowa quarterback Jake Rudock wears a football helmet that is reminiscent of Darth Vader.
Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Jake Rudock errs on the side of an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure.
It’s nicknamed the “Darth Vader” helmet because it does have some similar lines to the helmet made famous by the Star Wars character, but it became known in football circles after Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker switched to the model after sustaining several concussions.

Rudock has no history of concussions, but apparently has a desire to not have his brain scrambled after he’s done playing football.
In October 2013, Rudock alluded to that after telling the Quad City Times about being examined after taking a hard hit on a sideline run.
"“You’re going to get hit,” Rudock said. “That’s why they put air in the helmets.”"
Rudock, a junior, was 19-for-38 for 230 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception, in the Hawkeyes’ 37-34 overtime loss to Nebraska on Friday.
On the season, he has thrown for 2,404 yards and 16 touchdowns with five picks, completing 62.6 percent of his throws in 11 games.
Iowa finished the regular season 7-5, 4-4 in Big Ten play, which means the Hawkeyes will be one of the 2,104,746 teams in America playing in a bowl game of some sort next month.
