Jim Harbaugh Says 49ers’ Offense Will Be Evaluated

The San Francisco 49ers offense was effectively steamrolled in Thursday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh says it will be evaluated.

The San Francisco 49ers offense is always being evaluated, according to Jim Harbaugh, and will be reevaluated after Thursday’s loss.

"“We always do that. We’ll do that again. We’ll evaluate it. I don’t know what you refer to with major changes,” Harbaugh said in a story by San Jose Mercury News via Pro Football Talk."

The major changes Harbaugh was referring to was in response to the question posed to him by Bay Area media about whether the team needs to make major changes on offense. Harbaugh also added that the 49ers need to win their remaining games to get into the playoffs. He’s likely right on that count, but the 49ers still have to face the Seahawks one more time, and it will be in noisy Seattle.

The offense has to be a concern for the 49ers going forward. Only 33 points were managed against the worst of the NFC East in the New York Giants and Washington Redskins, and then they only managed one field goal against the Seahawks. The rest of the team’s schedule includes AFC West one win wonders, the Oakland Raiders, the 7-4 San Diego Chargers and then rematches with NFC West rivals in the Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

Other than the Raiders (and watch out for them, they have nothing to lose), the 49ers schedule doesn’t get much easier. However, the Seahawks and Cardinals don’t exactly have easy schedules either, so it’s possible, if not necessarily probable, that the 49ers could improve enough to make the playoffs.
