The end of careers rarely end how you draw it up. For every John Elway retirement you get hundreds of players walking away from the game due to old age, diminished performances and without the cameras and media in front of you in a tearful retirement press conference.
In the case of Chicago Bears outside linebacker, the latter could be in store for the perennial Pro Bowler who was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, ending his career and likely his time in a Bears uniform.
#Bears have placed LB Lance Briggs on injured reserve with a groin injury, ending his season.

Lance Briggs’ 170 games started are 5th-most in #Bears history, trailing Payton (184), Kreutz (183), Urlacher (180) and Singletary (172).

Briggs, 34, was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times in his 12-year career, including in 2005 when he was named an All-Pro for the first and only time in his career that could put him on the fringe of Hall of Fame consideration.
The former third round pick out of Arizona in the 2003 NFL Draft, Briggs racked up 1,174 combined tackles, 15 sacks, 16 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles, seven recoveries and scored six defensive touchdowns.
If this is the end of his time with the Bears, could he find the free agent market as cold as it was for former running mate Brian Urlacher and forced into early retirement?
