Troy Aikman wasn’t cutting Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo any slack during Thanksgiving Day’s game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
Troy Aikman called the game as the Philadelphia Eagles thumped the Dallas Cowboys 33-10 at home Thursday night. Aikman couldn’t help but give his opinion on what he thought of Tony Romo’s performance.

Clearly frustrated to watch his former team not only get beat up on by a divisional rival, but lose control of the division in the process; Aikman openly criticized Romo for his poor decision-making and inability to make plays.
Aikman criticized Romo not only for his poor passing, but for missing opportunities to make plays as well. There were several times where Romo could have extended the play by running with the ball himself, but opted to stay in the backfield and force a throw instead.
In all fairness, Romo is dealing with a back injury. Team doctors and/or coaches may have advised Romo to not run with the ball and just stay in the pocket to avoid further injuring himself. However, I’m sure Aikman would argue that if he’s in there to play, then he needs to play one hundred percent, not eighty or ninety percent.
With 5:54 remaining in the game and the Cowboys down by 23, they opted to punt instead of going for it on fourth down. Aikman thought that Romo’s day was done after that. So, Aikman was a little surprised when Romo ran back on the field for their next possession. Romo threw his second interception of the day on that same possession.
Romo has been playing some good football for most of the year so far. However, and I’m sure this is why Troy Aikman is frustrated, Romo continues to not be able to win the big games. Romo will have a chance to redeem himself when the Cowboys play the Eagles again in Philadelphia in week 15 on Sunday Night Football.
