Ohio State already clinched their berth in the Big Ten Championship Game earlier this month and really they clinched it when they went into East Lansing and beat the Michigan State Spartans to have a clear path to the division title and a return appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game.

The only suspense was who would the Buckeyes face in the Dec. 6 game from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis next Saturday.

Melvin Gordon and his Wisconsin team hosted the upstart Golden Gophers from Minnesota on Saturday and after trailing 17-3 to the Gophers in the opening minutes of the second quarter was able to rally to pull off the win and return to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Gordon needed this extra game to boost his stats for a run at the Heisman and to challenge Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record. He needs 369 yards in the final two weeks to set the mark.

The game was thought to feature two Heisman candidates with J.T. Barrett on display for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes quarterback suffered a season-ending broken ankle in their win against Michigan. This is a devastating loss for Ohio State who turns to Cardale Jones who was the team’s third string quarterback before Braxton Miller and now Barrett were lost to injury.
