His third interception of the game early in the second half led to a touchdown for Auburn and put the Crimson Tide down 33-21 in the Iron Bowl as Alabama looks to hold onto its No. 1 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings before playing Missouri in the SEC title game next week.
But Sims bounced back, leading the Tide on a 75-yard touchdown drive, capped by a 39-yard scoring pass to Amari Cooper.
It was the second TD connection of the night for Sims and Cooper. Their 17-yard touchdown hookup in the first quarter had given Alabama a 14-3 lead before Auburn rallied to lead 26-21 at the half.
However, Gunnar Raborn’s extra point attempt was blocked, leaving Auburn ahead 33-27 midway through the third quarter.
Sims came into the game with just four interceptions on the season, but threw two in the first half that led to 10 Auburn points and his third of the game came on Alabama’s second play from scrimmage after halftime.
