This post will feature my college football picks against the spread for the games that kick off between 1:00 and 3:30 eastern time today.
(25)Utah(-9.5) at Colorado: This is WAY too low. Give me Utah for my lock of the afternoon!
Idaho at Appalachian State(-17.5): The Mountaineers have put up points by the bushel lately. I’m thinking that continues. Give me Appalachian.
Texas State(-14.5) at Georgia State: The Panthers have only been covered once all season. Give me Georgia State.
New Mexico State at Arkansas State(-23.5): Ugh. A mediocre team with a large spread. However, when you look at Arkie State against the Aggies, they don’t look so mediocre. Give me Arkansas State.
Wyoming at New Mexico(-4.5): Time to break out the quarter again. Heads. That means I’m taking New Mexico.
San Jose State at San Diego State(-13.5): The Spartans have been beyond bad. Give me the Aztecs BIG.
Notre Dame at USC(-6.5): This game is always close, even when the talent seems anywhere but. This year, the teams look pretty close talent-wise as well. That said, Notre Dame is having kicking issues and turnover issues. I have a hard time believing they stay within one score. Give me USC.
UAB(-3.5) at Southern Mississippi: The Blazers keep putting up points, so they seem like the safer bet. Give me UAB.
(4)Mississippi State(-2.5) at (19)Mississippi: The Egg Bowl has lost a little bit of its luster, but this is still a huge game. I would think that regardless of what happens elsewhere, if the Bulldogs win, they are in the playoff. If not, it should be that way. You can bet that Mississippi would love to ruin the party for its arch-rival. Mississippi has not been the same team without WR Laquon Treadwell. Advantage: Mississippi State. Give me the Bulldogs.
Florida at (3)Florida State(-7.5): We have seen it time and time again. Coach that “resigned” effective at the end of the season pulls off an unlikely win in his swan song. It happens here for Will Muschamp. Give me Florida.
(10)Michigan State(-13.5) at Penn State: The Penn State offense has been beyond terrible. Even against mediocre defenses. This will get ugly quick. Give me Michigan State.
(18)Minnesota at (14)Wisconsin(-14.5): The Gophers are going to have all kinds of trouble without David Cobb, but if their defense can keep it close, they have a shot here. If Leidner has to throw, this game could get ugly. All that aside, this is the biggest game for the Gophers in decades. I think they keep it close. Give me Minnesota.
Rutgers at Maryland(-8.5): Maryland has been very tough at home in their first season in the Big Ten(14). I think that continues. Give me Maryland.
(7)Baylor(-26.5) vs. Texas Tech at Jerry World: On the road, I would say that Baylor might have trouble. However, this is at a neutral site about equidistant from both schools. Give me Baylor. Tech won’t be able to stop them.
