When the Clemson Tigers take the field on Saturday against the rival South Carolina Gamecocks, they will once again have their best option under center at quarterback as freshman Deshaun Watson will be in the starting lineup, the school announced on Saturday.
Watson sprained his LCL earlier this month against Georgia Tech, and at the time everyone feared that he had torn his ACL and would be lost for the season. However, tests showed that it wasn’t as bad as originally feared, and he is ready to get back out there for the Tigers.
This is great news for Clemson, as we have found out this year that the young man really is the best option for them under center, and will be something special for years to come. This was easy to see when he came in against Florida State and nearly led Clemson to the upset.
On the season this year, Watson has thrown for 1,197 yards with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions, and he gives Clemson a serious chance to break this losing streak against South Carolina.
