Georgia Bulldogs shot themselves in the foot during Saturdays game against rival Georgia Tech., fumbling the fall on the 1-yard line….twice.

Georgia put themselves in a good position to take control of the game Saturday against Georgia Tech.  #9 ranked Georgia is dominating #16 Georgia Tech at all ends of the field.  Their running game is averaging more than seven yards per carry, quarterback Hutson Mason is passing very efficiently, and the defense has even blocked a field goal.

Yet, the Georgia Bulldogs find themselves knotted 14-14 with rivals Georgia Tech in the fourth quarter due to some costly mistakes.  Two in particular.

Georgia has fumbled the ball not once, but twice at the 1-yard line.  Georgia’s inability to hold on to the ball in crucial areas may end up costing them this game.

The first of the two fumbles came on a 2nd and goal at the 1-yard line.  Georgia running back Nick Chubb ripped off a 65-yard run to get down to the Georgia Tech 1-yard line.  After being stuffed on 1st-and-goal, Chubb tried again on 2nd-and-goal, however he was unable to hold on to the ball and turned it over to Georgia Tech.

The second of the two fumbles came late in the second quarter.  This time, it was Sony Michel that got loose for a would-be 14-yard touchdown, but was tackled at the 1-yard line.  The ball popped out and was recovered by Georgia Tech once again.

Georgia had only fumbled the ball four times all season.  They had 2 fumbles in the first half alone on Saturday.  The game is still very much in reach for the Georgia Bulldogs, but they could be in a much better position if they were just able to hold on to the ball for one more yard.
