Nick Perry Picks Off Nick Marshall As Alabama Seizes Momentum (Video)
By Phil Watson
Nick Marshall has been spot on for Auburn for most of the Iron Bowl, but he threw an interception to Alabama’s Nick Perry late in the third quarter.
Call it Nick-on-Nick crime.
Alabama’s Nick Perry intercepted Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall and gave the Crimson Tide great field position late in the third quarter of a wild Iron Bowl at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Marshall is 17-for-27 for 335 yards and three touchdowns, but the errant pass picked off by Perry was Marshall’s first interception of the game and led to an 11-yard touchdown run by Blake Sims early in the fourth quarter that put Alabama up 42-36.

Auburn had led 33-21 early in the third quarter.
Marshall committed one of the cardinal sins of quarterbacking on the play. He was flushed out of the pocket to his right, then tried to force the ball back over the middle into what appeared to be triple coverage on receiver Quan Bray.
Alabama (10-1) came into the game ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings, with Auburn (8-3) checking in at No. 15.
The Crimson Tide had already clinched a spot in next week’s SEC championship game in Atlanta when Mississippi State lost at Ole Miss. Alabama will play Missouri in the title game.
