Smashing Pumpkins To Anderson Cooper: F— You

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper took a potshot at Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who quickly sniped back with a T-shirt bearing colorful language in Cooper’s direction.

When Billy Corgan posed with his cats for the charitable PAWS Chicago magazine, he probably thought no one could possibly lay some scrutiny his way. He was just doing his part to help animals in his home city. As it turns out, despite all his rage, Corgan is still just a rat in his cage to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who gleefully ripped into Corgan.

Corgan’s response? F— you.

It starts with Cooper, who had the following to say, per SPIN News:

"[Cooper] said that the aging star’s recent antics suggest that singer/guitarist might be “off his alternative rocker,” but he went a step further saying that that Smashing Pumpkins’ classic Siamese Dream was “derivative” of My Bloody Valentine anyway."

Oh no, he didn’t! Say what you want about the cats, but you will not besmirch Siamese Dream for us 90s children, you dastardly son of a–well, Billy Corgan’s retort was better than ours.

He made a T-shirt that read ‘F— You Anderson Cooper’ that came after Corgan’s tweet aimed at Cooper. He also had this to say, additionally per SPIN.

"“Sorry to disappoint, but when I’m not raising cain for a great organization like @PAWSchicago, I’m still making REAL music,” He tweeted. “I realize you’re too busy being a globalist shill to know the difference, but there are those of us who do as we like.”"

Consider the gauntlet laid down. Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins will release a new album on December 9. Run, don’t walk (or just download it) to your nearest outlet and make the day of your favorite 90’s-raised 30-something-year-old.
