On Saturday afternoon, the St. Louis Rams announced that they have activated the defensive end from the team’s injured reserve-designated to return list, following surgery on his injured ankle earlier this year.

Long has been out of action since suffering the injury in the Rams’ season-opener.

Now, with Long back in the lineup, an already impressive group of defensive lineman gets another weapon for the final stretch of the 2014-15 NFL regular season.

In the past six games, the St. Louis Rams have racked up a total of 21 sacks — second most in the league during that span.

On Sunday, the Rams will take the field against the Oakland Raiders at the Edward Jones Dome, so Chris Long and company could be in for a big day. The Rams are currently on the outside of the NFC Wild Card race, but Long can still make his impact felt on the field with the team looking to finish the season strong.

Even though St. Louis is likely to miss the playoffs this season, they seem to be a team trending in the right direction.
