Records are meant to be broken even if that means breaking your dad’s records because that’s exactly what Kansas State wide receiver Tyler Lockett did on Saturday against in-state rival Kansas

Tyler Lockett entered this season with the Wildcats with his father Kevin Lockett’s program record for receptions and touchdowns in his sights.

Kevin Lockett had 217 receptions during his career from 1993-1996 when he played for Bill Snyder and 18 years after he finished his career as the Kansas State all-time leading receiver his son Tyler broke his record for receptions and tied him with his second touchdown of the first half.

How cool of a moment is this for the Lockett family and for Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder who recruited the elder Lockett to Manhattan, KS and saw him develop during his time with the Wildcats and now has seen the junior Lockett thrive under his watch in the Little Apple?

On Senior Day against their in-state rival and on Thanksgiving weekend it doesn’t get much better than this.

Kansas State is in a three-way tie for first place in the Big 12 with TCU and Baylor and play the Bears in the regular season finale next week where Lockett will look to break dad’s touchdown record if he doesn’t get it in the second half.
