Avalanche F Jamie McGinn Could Face Season-Ending Back Surgery
The Colorado Avalanche could be losing yet another player to injury, this time it’s Jamie McGinn for possibly the remainder of the season.
Colorado Avalanche forward Jamie McGinn may have to watch the rest of the NHL season from the bench. The 26-year-old may have to opt for back surgery, which would incapacitate him for the remainder of the season.
McGinn was giving it his best effort to play through the back ailment, but decided to shut it down in an attempt to give it some rest. However, the rest doesn’t seem to be doing his back any good. McGinn and the Avalanche are starting to explore the possibility of opting for surgery that will end Mcginn’s season, according to head coach Patrick Roy.

Roy adds that McGinn is being re-evaluated every day, but for now he is status-quo and remains day-to-day. McGinn was placed on injured reserve by the Avalanche on Friday, Nov. 21.
Very disappointing news for Jamie McGinn and the Avalanche, as they are already dealing with a slew of injured players. McGinn was also looking to build off a career year that saw him score 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points. He had 4 goals and 2 assists for 6 points through 19 games so far this season.
McGinn last played Nov. 15 against New Jersey. He has not skated since that game and has not been around the team much as he is seeing several doctors for opinions on what to do for his ailing back.
Obviously, McGinn will not be in the lineup for the Avalanche when they host the Montreal Canadians at the Pepsi Center on Dec. 1st.
