By the time you reach the ranks of FBS college football, you should be long past the point that cheerleaders are made fun of. Theirs can be a thankless job, and it’s one that requires commitment, loyalty, and a heck of a lot of athleticism. They get their usual moments in the spotlight, but on Saturday, one Clemson cheerleader earned his for an unusual reason.

In the midst of the game between Clemson and the South Carolina Gamecocks, an errant pass flew towards the Clemson cheerleaders. More than one tried to make a play on it, but the ultimate hero came through by catching the pass with his megaphone, in traffic to boot.

This is no joke.

Check out the catch with the megaphone below, which required concentration at the end to complete the play, followed by a completely appropriate celebration of the accomplishment.

Hopefully none of those baseball fans with the fishing nets saw this or got any ideas. Hat’s off to this Clemson cheerleader for making one of the best catches of the weekend.
