Ray Rice Rumors: Saints Considering Signing Rice
By Hayden Kane
Former Baltimore Ravens‘ running back Ray Rice has won his appeal with the NFL and can now turn to the business of football. The New Orleans Saints are reportedly considering the option of signing Rice.
In focusing on the football side of things strictly, teams across the NFL are now wondering if there is a fit out there for Ray Rice. And if he does sign with a new team, when will he be back on the field? Will he join a team for the playoff run this season, or will he seek a fresh start next season?

It’s unclear how much Rice will be able to offer. He has been out all season, and the last time he did play football he averaged a measly 3.1 yards-per-attempt. He might not be in line to help a team in the near future, making a fresh start in 2015 more logical.
For Rice to make a meaningful contribution this season, he would have to find just the right situation. Could that fit be with the New Orleans Saints? Adam Schefter reports that the Saints have joined the Indianapolis Colts as teams that are seriously considering a run at Rice the free agent.
Given the style of the Saints’ offense and their ability to interchange running backs, perhaps that is where Rice could have an impact right away. But considering the potential P.R. fallout for such a move, it seems like there are some other warm bodies who could make about the same contributions without the baggage.
