Columbus Blue Jackets’ forward Artem Anisimov could miss up to three months after tearing his triceps muscle.

The injury bug is making itself right at home in Columbus this year.

Add to the injury list for the Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov.  The Russian could miss up to three months after tearing his triceps muscle.

Seriously, what kind  of voodoo curse was placed on the Jackets this year?

More from Columbus Blue Jackets

After a tremendous Cinderella-like run to the playoffs last season and nearly knocking off the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round, Columbus is in danger of winning the Connor McDavid sweepstakes this year.  Which, honestly, isn’t a bad thing — but very disappointing after the success the team had just six months ago.

Anisimov has 2 goals and 4 assists through 16 games this season, playing in all situations for the Blue Jackets.  Not only are the Jackets losing a player they rely on heavily in all facets of the game, but there were rumors that Anisimov was a possible trading piece that was going to be sent to the Edmonton Oilers for forward David Perron.

I guess that trade is off the table now.  Edmonton wouldn’t trade for an injured player.  Right?

Anisimov is joining the vastly long list of injuries for Columbus, which include the likes of Nathan Horton, Ryan Murray, Mark Letestu, Brandon Dubinsky, Matt Calvert, and Marko Dano.  That’s only to name a few.

Who knows — maybe Columbus is just meant to get Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel.  It really seems that way.
