The embarassing “boxing match” between Mickey Rourke and a homeless man took an ugly turn Monday, but Rourke’s opponent denies taking a dive.

Over the weekend in Russia, Mickey Rourke returned to the boxing ring to take on Elliot Seymour, who had a 1-9 boxing record.

From the beginning, there was something funny about the fight. A lethargic Rourke was plodding around the ring winging punches that an infant could have avoided, while Seymour was dropped with less than devastating shots to the body.

Things got really funny when the “knockout blow” came.

Following the fight, a less than surprising report from the Daily Mail came out that claimed Seymour, who is actually a homeless man, was paid to take a dive in the fight.

It seems very reasonable — especially when you see the embarassing display of boxing — that the fight was fixed and multiple people close to Seymour and Mickey Rourke said as much, but Seymour himself is denying the match was ever fixed.

From TMZ.com:

"But Seymour — who returned to L.A. after the Crumble in the Kremlin — says, “The fight wasn’t thrown. I only had one month to train.”Seymour confirmed reports that he’s struggling financially and has been living on the streets — but says he was paid to fight … not to lose."

Whatever you say, Mr. Seymour.

If Seymour claims he didn’t take a dive, you have to take his word for it, but the word of others and basic common sense from those who witnessed the fight live seems to suggest otherwise.
