Georgia Tech and head football coach Paul Johnson are discussing a possible contract extension.
The yearly game of musical coaching jobs is about to begin, and one school is working to make sure that their head coach isn’t playing this year. Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech are currently discussing a contract extension that would presumably keep Johnson from leaving for a new job this year.

Georgia Tech has won the ACC coastal division twice in the last three seasons, and Johnson’s name is being floated as a possibility for a number of high profile jobs that are currently available.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the talks are still in the very early stages.
"“We’re exchanging numbers now and we’re actually in discussion for an extension,” Jack Reale, Johnson’s agent, said Monday after receiving the extension offer. “I don’t want to characterize anything further than that.”"
This isn’t the first time that these two parties have discussed a possible extension, but this is the first time that a formal proposal has been made by the university.
Georgia Tech is 10-3, and will face No. 3 Florida State in the ACC title game this week. The Yellow Jackets should be invited to play in a major bowl game no matter the result against Florida State.
