As it turns out, Keisel’s injury was as bad as initially expected and the team officially placed him on the injured-serve list Monday afternoon with a torn triceps.
The Steelers signed defensive end Clifton Geathers to take Brett Keisel’s place on the roster.
Keisel spent the entire offseason searching for a home as a free agent. Ultimately, his decision came down to the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers and Keisel returned to a familiar city.
Keisel finishes the 2014-15 NFL season with 17 tackles, a sack and an interception.
Whether Brett Keisel, who would turn 37 years old next season, decides to return to the NFL or retire remains to be seen. It will likely be a decision that comes down to how quickly Keisel heals and whether a team is willing to bring in a veteran coming off of a serious injury.
