Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter is expected to remain in a Houston area hospital for at least a few more days as he recovers from a lacerated spleen.

Justin Hunter didn’t travel home with his teammate back after their game in Houston in Week 13 of the 2014-15 NFL regular season. He remains in the hospital after suffering a lacerated spleen in Tennessee’s blowout loss to the Houston Texans.

The doctors don’t expect Hunter to require surgery to repair the injury.

It is currently unclear what the timetable is for his return the field, or if he will be placed on injured reserve.

Jim Wyatt of theTennessean is reporting that Hunter is expected to remain in the hospital for “for a few days.” While rest is the key element in his recovery, Hunter will need to supervised closely while he heals.

According to multiple reports, Justin Hunter was coughing up blood on the sidelines after taking a massive hit in Sunday’s game.

This resulted in the Titans wide receiver being rushed to the hospital.

The second-year wide receiver had been having a decent season, recording 28 receptions for just under 500 yards and three touchdowns in limited playing time for the Titans. Hunter was beginning to get more involved in the Titans’ offense this year.
